A retaining wall holds back thousands of pounds of soil, especially after rain saturates it. That load has to go somewhere — through the wall, through the footing, and into the ground below. An undersized wall will lean, crack, or fail, sometimes within a few years of installation.

We engineer our walls for the actual soil pressure, surcharge load, and drainage conditions on your site. When required, we pull permits and provide stamped engineering drawings.

The number one cause of retaining wall failure isn't bad concrete — it's water with nowhere to go. Hydrostatic pressure behind a wall without proper drainage will push any wall out of plumb eventually. We install drainage aggregate, weep holes, and perforated pipe behind every wall that needs it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most DFW cities require permits for walls over 4 feet in height measured from the bottom of the footing. We handle permit applications and know the local requirements.

Poured concrete walls are stronger and more monolithic. Block walls allow more design flexibility and easier phasing. For walls over 4 feet, poured concrete with rebar is usually the better structural choice.

We install 3/4-inch clean gravel against the wall face, weep holes through the wall at the base, and perforated drain pipe at the footing when conditions require it. Drainage isn't optional.

Sometimes. We inspect the foundation and the cause of movement first — if the footing failed or the drainage was never adequate, repair is usually a short-term fix. We'll tell you honestly whether repair or replace makes more sense.
